Rich Culture of Sindh



Introduction

Sindh is a Province of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It's capital is located in Karachi. It is the second largest province of Pakistan in terms of Population after Punjab. Sindh has a very unique culture. Sindh got its name from the River Indus which flows through it before falling in the Arabian Sea. Main languages spoken here are Sindhi and Urdu.

Ajrak
Sindh is famous for it's Culture. Sindhi Cap and Ajrak are the iconic symbols of Sindhi Culture.Other crafts of Sindhi culture are Rilli' or 'Ralli' which are the traditional bedspreads and quilts. They are  handmade by women from remote villages of Sindh. The Rilli work comes in three categories of design: patchwork, applique, and embroidery.

 Sindhi Pindi which are baskets for bread (roti) are also very famous and icons of Sindhi Culture, these are made from wheat straws and look very beautiful with different colours.

Historical Sites

Sindh has a thousands year old history, Mohen-jo-daro is located in Sindh which dates back to 2500 BCE, other historical sites in Sindh are Kotdiji Fort, Ranipur Fort (Great wall of Sindh), Umerkot fort and many more.
